As a child, when Katherine saw something new, she wondered what it was and how it worked. For better understanding nature, she devoted herself to studying Chemistry at the University of Costa Rica and continued with a degree on Polymeric Materials at the National University. After working in I+D in a medical company for two years, her passion for travel drove her to complete an internship in Sweden, where she had the opportunity to apply her skills teaching Science. This allowed her to discover Europe, learn and enjoy with people from different cultures.
She returned to Costa Rica in 2016, excited to make her contribution to education. For her, teaching has taken her beyond research and has given her a reason to explore it all. Since then she has been teaching IB Science and Physics. In addition, she likes to balance work with her hobbies: yoga, dance, swimming and hiking.
Desde niña, cuando Katherine veía algo nuevo, se preguntaba qué era y cómo funcionaba. Para comprender mejor la naturaleza, se dedicó a estudiar Química en la Universidad de Costa Rica y continuó con una licenciatura enfocada en Materiales Poliméricos en la Universidad Nacional. Después de trabajar en I+D en una empresa médica por dos años, su pasión por viajar la impulsó a completar una pasantía en Suecia, donde tuvo la oportunidad de aplicar sus habilidades científicas a la enseñanza. Esto le permitió descubrir Europa, aprender y disfrutar con personas de diferentes culturas.
Regresó a Costa Rica en 2016, entusiasmada por hacer su contribución a la educación. Para ella, la enseñanza la ha llevado más allá de la investigación y le ha dado una razón para explorarlo todo. Desde entonces ha estado enseñando Ciencias y IB Física. Además, le gusta equilibrar el trabajo con sus pasatiempos: yoga, danza, natación y senderismo.
