Hola! I am Mercedes McGinnis and I am the Science teacher for Tenorio. Science is my passion and what got me into education. I am from Houston, Texas in the United States. I grew up there and went to university there. After graduating, I taught in Texas for 3 years as a 6th grade science and social studies teacher. I then moved to Australia for 1 year where I was able to travel around the country and gain experience from different learners as well as different cultures. Last year, I taught 2nd grade PYP virtually in Shenzhen, China. I learned many valuable lessons and strategies during my online experience. I am so excited to be in Costa Rica and call this country my new home. It is by far the friendliest and most beautiful place I have ever been. I am thankful for the opportunity to be at La Paz and I look forward to the memories I create with my coworkers and students.
¡Hola! Soy Mercedes McGinnis y soy la profesora de Ciencias de Tenorio. La ciencia es mi pasión y lo que me llevó a la educación. Soy de Houston, Texas en los Estados Unidos. Crecí allí y fui a la universidad allí. Después de graduarme, enseñé en Texas durante 3 años como maestra de ciencias y estudios sociales de sexto grado. Luego me mudé a Australia durante 1 año, donde pude viajar por el país y adquirir experiencia de diferentes estudiantes, así como de diferentes culturas. El año pasado, enseñé el PYP de segundo grado virtualmente en Shenzhen, China. Aprendí muchas lecciones y estrategias valiosas durante mi experiencia en línea. Estoy muy emocionada de estar en Costa Rica y llamar a este país mi nuevo hogar. Es el lugar más agradable y hermoso en el que he estado. Estoy agradecida por la oportunidad de estar en La Paz y espero con ansias crear muchos recuerdos con mis compañeros de trabajo y estudiantes.
