STUDENT LIFE
Preparing world-ready leaders since 2007
Our bilingual and experience-based approach allows children to discover the joy of learning while preparing them as informed and mindful citizens of the world.

Our Dual Language Program goes beyond mastering two languages—it's an immersion into two cultures, fostering true global citizenship.
Students naturally enhance their language skills through interdisciplinary planning and theme-based content. They are guided to “bridge” their learning between English and Spanish by exploring the similarities and differences between the two languages and applying concepts across both. These themes and interdisciplinary experiences not only unify the curriculum but also foster a sense of belonging and create common ground for all students.
Our students dive into hands-on activities that bring lessons to life, making learning both fun and memorable.
We combine Project-Based Learning and Place-Based Learning to connect classroom lessons with real-world experiences. Teachers in every grade spark curiosity by posing open-ended, engaging questions that align with learning objectives. Students are encouraged to engage with the local community and natural environment, using them as starting points for learning across all subjects.
Field trips, community involvement, and exploring local ecosystems enrich academic experiences, helping students build lasting skills while fostering a deeper connection to the world around them.
At La Paz Community School, our core curriculum is based on the International Baccalaureate and U.S. and Costa Rican standards. We view each grade level as a stepping stone to success, which is why we've represented our students' journey toward their fullest potential by naming our Casas after Costa Rican landmarks-starting with Bajura (the plains) and culminating with Chirripó, the highest peak in the country.
